Bill was the first-born son of Molly and Arthur Weasley and, until he was 10 years old he lived a fairly normal childhood, eventually gaining five younger brothers and a sister. Bill was a very eager, active child and always wanted to help take care of his younger siblings, although his usual task was to take 'take Charlie and Percy and play outside and let Mommy get some rest.'

At the age of ten years old, however, he was taken from his parents and siblings and placed in a state-run foster home. The Ministry split up the family in an attempt to put pressure on Gideon and Fabian Prewett, his maternal uncles who were wanted fugitives. Bill never found out why he was taken from his family, or what happened to his parents and brothers and sister. He was only told that his parents were 'bad people' who were unfit to raise him properly. It was the exact same line given to every other child in the home.

Though his foster mother did her best, the home Bill was placed in was overcrowded with displaced children and under funded. As well, the Ministry was very invested in making sure the children in such homes would grow into proper, Ministry-supporting adults so various methods of brainwashing, sometimes crude or experimental, were liberally employed. The results in Bill were somewhat disjointed; he remained kind and fiercely protective of his 'younger siblings,' but capitulated quickly to the Ministry's views and accepted muggles as not only inferior, but downright dangerous and inhuman. Many people, even if they align with the Ministry, are surprised at his vehement hatred of muggles and his ideas of 'acceptable methods' when dealing with them, both things which are at odds with his 'normal' personality.

In Hogwarts, Bill did exceptionally well. He was naturally bright and popular and, unfortunately, enjoyed that status immensely. He became rebellious, although it was more for the sake of fitting the stereotype of 'rebel without a cause' than anything else, and he wanted the accolades and peer-respect that went with it. Becoming a Prefect in his fifth year, and then Head Boy in his seventh year, was somewhat of a shock to him but he settled down and found he actually liked the responsibility of the role, although he kept some of the attitude and habits of his more rebellious years.

Immediately after Hogwarts, Bill entered Auror training and became a Ministry employee. He's never looked back. Once he finished training he was approached with the offer of being a Death Eater and readily accepted. Although he remains a minor and Unmarked member of the group, Bill used his new-found connections to get employment in the auror's International Office at a very young age and was sent on various missions overseas. He developed a fondness for and a specialty in northern African countries, especially Egypt. He recently decided to transfer back to the London Office because of the increased opportunities for promotions, bought a small house, and got a haircut (sort of).
